Barcelona and Aston Villa YouTubers react to a 3-0 at the Camp Nou

Yamal early, Raphinha twice, and Unai Emery's birthday ruined. The Villa rooms split between 'it's Barcelona' and 'where's the plan B?'

Barcelona and Aston Villa YouTubers react to a 3-0 at the Camp Nou

Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, and the Villa fan YouTubers spent Wednesday arguing about whether that was a lesson or a warning. Lamine Yamal scored after seven minutes, Raphinha added two after the break, and Villa's perfect Champions League start was over. Unai Emery spent his birthday watching it.

Unai Emery and the missing plan B

NoirVillan recorded straight off the stream. JM's problem was the team sheet before it was the scoreline. Against a Barcelona side that plays a high line, he wanted pace, and got Buendía and McGinn instead. "If we're playing against a high line, why have we not got speed on the pitch?" he asked. Then the line of the day: "It's as if Unai Emery is allergic to halftime substitutions." He had seen it against Fulham on Saturday too. Villa go in still in it and come out worse.

João Gomes and the opening goal

The first goal came from Villa trying to play out under pressure and giving the ball away near their own box. VillaSince89 knew exactly who he blamed. João Gomes took most of it, with a side order for Zion Suzuki for trying the same pass twice. "We should have just kept Douglas Luiz," he said, which is the kind of sentence that tells you how the night went. He also spotted the fixture list. Next up is Manchester United at Old Trafford, a side fresh off their own comeback. "I just got a bad feeling," he admitted. Villa fans will recognise the genre.

UTV and the case for perspective

Not every room wanted to burn it down. UTV | Aston Villa Fan Channel went to the numbers and found a closer game than the scoreline. Villa had 27 touches in the Barcelona box to Barça's 36 in theirs. The problem was timing: "We conceded seven minutes into the first half and seven minutes into the second half." His word was belief. The chances were there, the conviction was not. He also pointed out, reasonably, that losing 3-0 away at Barcelona does not end a Champions League campaign. Both clubs sit on nine points.

Villa On Tour and the trip itself

For Villa On Tour, the result arrived at the end of a very long day. The vlog starts with a 6am flight from Birmingham and a reminder of where this channel began: "When I started this very channel, I was watching Barnsley." Then it rains, the second goal deflects in, and the mood drops. "Quality going forward is just not there, I'm afraid," is the verdict from the away end. He still signs off with Old Trafford on Sunday. That is the away-day contract.

Barcelona and Hansi Flick's adjustment

From the other side, End The Stream Dave XTRA saw a coach who finally blinked. In the first half, goalkeeper Joan Garcia was sweeping up Villa balls in behind like a man on a bonus. After the break, Hansi Flick dropped the line by 15 to 20 metres and Villa stopped getting in. He picked out Fermín López and Raphinha, and had a word for Villa's first-half spell too: "That's not football. That's ping pong." Barcelona's only worry is Rodri, who came off at half-time and has since been ruled out of Sunday's trip to Atlético with a minor hamstring injury.

Old Trafford is the real test

The Villa rooms agree on the facts and split on the meaning. One camp says Barcelona are simply better and nine points is fine. The other says this is the second straight game where Villa came out worse after half-time, and nobody on the bench seems to want to change it. Sunday at Old Trafford, against a United side that has just found a pulse, will tell them which camp was right.
