Coventry and Newcastle YouTubers preview Monday night at the CBS Arena

Newcastle are ninth on eight points and Coventry have three. Loaded Mag NUFC, NUFC Talk TV, The Toon Zone and The Toon Review weigh up Jaissle's injury list and Lampard's back three, while Sky Blue Fans TV and Sky Blue Review call it make or break for the Sky Blues.

Monday night, Sky cameras, and a fixture the top flight hasn't seen since January 2001. Back then Gary Speed, Shola Ameobi and Kieron Dyer scored in a 3–1 win for Sir Bobby Robson's Newcastle. On Monday at 20:00 the Magpies go to the CBS Arena to face Frank Lampard's Coventry, and both sets of fans have spent the international break getting ready for it.

On paper it's Newcastle's game. They are ninth on eight points. Coventry have three, with one goal scored and ten conceded. But that one goal mattered. Jay Dasilva's finish at the City Ground on 19 September gave Coventry their first top-flight win in 25 years, after four straight defeats to open the season. Newcastle beat Hull 2–1 the same day, with nine players missing. So Lampard has the momentum and Matthias Jaissle has the treatment room. That's the argument going into Monday.

Both fanbases in one room

Loaded Mag NUFC didn't wait for the weekend to start the needle. They booked Sky Blue Fans TV for a joint preview and put both fanbases on the same show. It's the right format for this fixture, because the two clubs arrive from opposite directions.

Newcastle are five years into the takeover, with a Carabao Cup on the shelf. Coventry lost their first four without scoring, the last of them 5–0 at home to Brighton. Then they went to Forest and won. One side wants a routine three points. The other wants Monday to be the night the CBS Arena feels like a Premier League ground again. Put them in the same room and you get the whole fixture in one sitting.

Jaissle's injury list, line by line

NUFC Talk TV went straight to Thursday's press conference and picked through all of it. The injury boost is the headline. Joelinton, Dan Burn, Nico Gonzalez and William Osula are on their list of players coming back. Joelinton hasn't played a Premier League minute this season. Burn, the club captain, hasn't featured in a competitive game under Jaissle at all.

Then there's the bit Newcastle fans didn't know about. The club played a behind-closed-doors friendly against Middlesbrough during the break and, according to the Chronicle and the Shields Gazette, lost it 1–0 with a side full of under-21s and non-internationals. Jaissle said he loved that nothing came out about it. NUFC Talk TV put "friendly defeat shock" in the title, and they also get into where Joelinton fits in midfield and why they think Yoane Wissa is thriving at No. 10. The bad news is in goal. Jaissle confirmed Ewen Jaouen is out for two months with a hamstring injury. He's hoping to have three or four of the nine back for Monday. That still leaves a long list.

Scouting Lampard

The most useful Newcastle video of the week is about Coventry. The Toon Zone did a full tactical breakdown of what Lampard has built. The back three. The wide overloads and the direct balls. The pressing triggers. The roles for Grimes, Rudoni and Van Ewijk. Then the part Newcastle fans care about, which is where you can hurt it.

It's a fair way to treat a promoted side. Coventry lost to City and Arsenal in the opening weeks, which tells you nothing. The Forest win tells you a bit more. They held on through a first half Forest dominated, scored from a long ball, and survived a late VAR call. The Toon Zone's question for the comments is whether the back three is Lampard's best fit. Jaissle's answer on Thursday was more polite. He called Lampard "a pure legend" and one of the players he looked up to.

"Premier League football is back"

The Toon Review opened the phones. Their fan forum went out on Thursday night with the simplest pitch of the lot: after three weeks of nothing, Newcastle are playing again, and it's your show. The talking points are eight points from five, a growing injury list and a run of big fixtures coming up.

This is the room to watch if you want the temperature rather than the tactics. Newcastle have been flat in spells this season. They lost 4–1 at Leeds, then went 2–0 up on Hull inside seven minutes and spent the second half hanging on after Wissa had a penalty saved. A trip to a side that was pointless after four games should be the fixture that turns eight points into eleven. The forum is where you find out how many Newcastle fans actually believe that.

Make or break in Coventry

Sky Blue Review calls it make or break, and they mean the whole month rather than one night. Their weekly podcast goes through Coventry's next five games, starting with this one. For a promoted side that has one win and a minus nine goal difference, that's the honest way to look at it. The table won't forgive another four-game losing run.

Hosting Newcastle is a free hit in one sense, because nobody expects Coventry to win it. It's also the kind of night that decides how a promoted club's season feels. Lampard said after Forest that his players needed to feel like they belong. A Monday night under the lights against a club with Newcastle's money is where you prove it.

The argument

Strip it back and this is a question about the break. Did three weeks off kill Coventry's momentum, or did they give Jaissle the bodies he needs to look like a top-half side again? Newcastle fans want Joelinton and Burn back and a straightforward win. Coventry fans want proof that Forest wasn't a one-off. One of those rooms is going to have a very quiet Tuesday.
