Crystal Palace and Newcastle YouTubers react to a 0-2 at Selhurst Park

Eleven minutes, two goals and a first win at Selhurst Park in six years. The Toon rooms are relieved; the Palace end rated the atmosphere zero.

Crystal Palace and Newcastle YouTubers react to a 0-2 at Selhurst Park

Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon. Will Osula turned in Jacob Murphy's cross on 47 minutes, and Harvey Barnes finished Amar Dedić's cut-back on 58. Four fan YouTubers have had their say, and none of them wants the first half back.

Newcastle had lost three of their previous four league games. Matthias Jaissle made five changes and got a first win at Selhurst Park in six years, per BBC Sport, plus a first clean sheet since August, per Sky Sports. They finish the weekend eighth. Palace, beaten 5-0 at Brighton a week earlier, are 17th with the league's worst defence: 19 conceded in eight games. The boos for Pierre Sage were not subtle.

Dan Burn and Fabian Schär: the old firm is back

Through Black & White Eyes open with a confession: "I've got egg on my face." The panel had wanted Burn and Schär together, and the replies said they couldn't play together. The verdict: "they proved everyone wrong", and the pair were "absolutely superb". Burn, captain for the day, was making his first Premier League start of the season.

Two For Joy's Adam agrees that Schär and Burn "were difference makers today". The Palace end noticed too. Eagle-Eyed Football panellist Chairman says Jean-Philippe Mateta "struggled up the top" against a Dan Burn he puts at "about 8 foot 5". Generous, but not by much.

Will Osula and Jacob Murphy: the tap-in merchant delivers

It took Newcastle under two minutes of the second half to remember how football works. Murphy whipped it in and Osula, on his first start since the opening weekend, stuck a leg out. Adam's scouting report, affectionately: "he's a bit of a tap-in merchant, but that's exactly what Newcastle need."

Newcastle Fans TV's last-word review announces a rehabilitation. Murphy is a scapegoat for plenty of fans, the presenter included ("I'll be guilty of that as well"), but "he was mint second half". The cross gets its own line: "That turn and that whip of the ball was class."

Joe Willock had one ruled out for offside on 52 minutes. Six minutes later, Nico González fed Dedić and Barnes swept it home. Game over. Cue the boos.

Nico González and Lukas Horníček: the man of the match row

Newcastle Fans TV's breakfast show ran a four-option man of the match poll and left Nico off. The comments did not let it slide: "Nico, Nico, Nico." The host held his hands up: "Nico should have been amongst those four. Apology for that." And: "that one is totally on me."

His own pick was Horníček, as it was for BBC Sport's readers and the last-word review: "that for me is Horníček's best game this season." Adam, meanwhile, has done a full U-turn on González: "I've been highly critical of Nico Gonzalez, but I have to be honest, I thought he was an absolute shining light in that centre midfield today."

Crystal Palace: Eagle-Eyed Football rate the silence

Eagle-Eyed Football's ratings panel are past anger. Chris Richards gets a three: "he looked like he couldn't get the ball 20 feet." Then JC rates the crowd, and it is the bleakest review of the weekend: "the quietest 25,000 people have ever been in the history of man." The loudest moment? "The disallowed goal." That would be Willock's, chalked off by VAR. Atmosphere: "zero for me."

Sage said "the boos are normal because we don't have the result", and that the noise around the club is "only noise". Palace have gone four games without a win.

The argument: turning point or another false dawn?

Two For Joy's title asks if this is the turning point. Adam calls it "a damning first half turned round into a fantastic second half". The last-word review is more cautious. He reckons this is still "a mid-table side", the sort that follows a big win by falling flat. Jaissle said afterwards, per BBC Sport: "If we are all together, this journey can be successful."

Next, Everton twice in four days: away in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, then at St James' Park on Monday 2 November. One Through Black & White Eyes panellist saw a single magpie twice on the way to work and feared the worst. One for sorrow, as it turned out, was the home end.
