Ipswich and Nottingham Forest YouTubers react to a 1-1 at Portman Road

Seventeen shots, one Forest goal and a VAR trip that ended in yellow. The Forest rooms want shooting drills; the Ipswich rooms will take the point.

Ipswich and Nottingham Forest YouTubers react to a 1-1 at Portman Road

Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 in the Premier League at Portman Road on Friday night. Neco Williams put Forest ahead on 13 minutes, Julio Enciso equalised on 41 after a Nikola Milenković back-pass went astray, and Issa Diop survived a VAR red-card check. Five fan YouTubers watched it so you don't have to.

Sky Sports' match report has Forest winning the shot count 17-7. Which explains the mood in one dressing room and the grins in the other.

Forest's finishing: chance after chance after chance

ForestFanTV opens his player ratings with "Deja vu, welcome to the player ratings", and he's only half joking. Twenty minutes of domination, a goal, then a retreat. The thing that really gets him is Milenković. Mistakes happen, he says, but "how dare he not even attempt to track back on his own mistake." Milenković gets a rating of one. His prescription for the week: "nothing done in training for the next six days other than shooting drills."

Dore On Tour is calmer and sadder. It was "chance after chance after chance", and he's "actually gutted". The consolation is thin but real: "We didn't lose."

Issa Diop and VAR: red, yellow or the right call?

Early in the second half, Diop took out James McAtee. Referee Thomas Bramall was sent to the monitor and came back with a yellow. ForestFanTV thinks it was a red, loudly, and saves his best line for the referee: "If this ref was a football player, he would be a Forest striker."

Gary O'Neil, in his post-match interview on Kings of Anglia, sees it the other way. Leif Davis was covering and McAtee's touch was heavy, so "I don't think you would be able to say that that was a definite goal scoring opportunity." His verdict: "I think they make the right call." Even the Ipswich rooms aren't sure. Rich on Talking Town wants to see it again but thinks it's "probably a red card".

Gary O'Neil: aborting the plan and the slow subs

O'Neil was refreshingly honest about the second half. Early on he felt Ipswich "needed to abort trying to outplay them", went more direct, and called it the "lesser of two evils". It worked, more or less. The rooms still had notes. Talking Town's live debrief says O'Neil "was slow with his substitutions", and Colin's fan reaction reckons one change came "about 20 minutes too late". Colin also has a question for the manager about why Jaden Philogene started. He'd like to ask it "just me and him alone in a pub".

Julio Enciso and Leif Davis: Ipswich's heroes

Enciso told Kings of Anglia he thinks it was his first at Portman Road, and he thanked O'Neil "because he trust on me". At the back, Davis cleared off the line twice. Talking Town's panel says Davis had "a worldy" and "needs to be picked every week". One fan in Kings of Anglia's gameday vlog picks out Palacios instead, "amazing. I love that man", before getting to the point: "it's a better point for us than them really."

Liam Delap: the homecoming that didn't follow the script

Alex Griffin's pre-match vox pops turn into a Delap sweepstake. One Forest fan was sure he'd score "because that is in the scripts". Sky's report has him heading over on 74 minutes and sending a 30-yard effort fractionally wide. ForestFanTV gives him a two.

After the final whistle, Alex calls it a "fair result". Not everyone in the video agrees: "I think we got away with one tonight."

The argument: a good point or a great escape?

Both rooms agree on the facts: Forest had the chances, Ipswich had Davis, and the referee had a busy night. The disagreement is over what it means. Ipswich fans call it a fair point against a side that's better than its league position. Forest fans are watching the same film again and still hoping for a different ending. Six days of shooting drills, then.
