Leeds United and Manchester United drew 1-1 at Elland Road on Sunday. Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead on 35 minutes and Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised six minutes after half-time, which leaves Michael Carrick's side on one Premier League win this season. Six fan YouTubers watched it so you don't have to.
United arrived at the end of a long week. There was the midweek defeat at Atletico Madrid. There was Lisandro Martínez criticising director of football Jason Wilcox's recruitment, then apologising on Thursday. He started at Elland Road and was taken off at half-time; Carrick said he felt his thigh. Carrick went with a 3-4-3. Mbeumo missed a free header, then made up for it ten minutes before the break, turning in Youri Tielemans' low cross. After the break Tarik Muharemović flicked on a corner and Calvert-Lewin outmuscled Mbeumo to crash it in. United have won one of their seven league games and none since August. Como away on Wednesday is next. So Leeds got a point and United got a draw, and in these rooms those are not the same thing.
RantsNBants: "Carrick, man, do one"
RantsNBants skips the warm-up. "Carrick, man, do one." The verdict is that the manager is "spineless", and the evidence is the bench. "Look at Man United's bench and tell me about lack of investment." That's aimed squarely at the Martínez row. With a goal needed and attackers sat down, the channel watched Mason Mount come on and drew its own conclusion. "I'm convinced this guy never wanted to win the game today."
The meat is about Fernandes. RantsNBants reckons Carrick is "bending over backwards sideways twisting up himself" to keep the captain in the side, at the cost of the front three that won him the job. It's generous to the rest. This was the first time all three summer midfield signings started together, it says, "and they all looked really good". Seven points from seven games is "relegation form". The theory of the season is the best line of the day. Last year's run was "button bashing". "Man was playing Tekken." He "picked Eddie Gordo" and kept spamming until it stopped working. Brutal. Also, honestly, a decent tactical summary.
Sarcasm City TV: Carrick "played for the draw"
Sarcasm City TV has the same charge in fewer words. "Carrick played for the draw. Subs too late. Way too late." The case is about geography. "We're not away at PSG. We're not away at Barcelona." It's Leeds, and the game was in the balance, and the manager "would rather play for the draw and get a point rather than go for the win and potentially lose it".
It's fairer than the title suggests. Mbeumo gets credit for "good finish" and a telling-off for the header, "that miss criminal". The back line gets a rare round of applause. Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro "all played well", and it's "the first time I can say with confidence that we were actually better defensively than we was offensively". On the three-man midfield it sounds almost surprised. "Who would have thought that playing three midfielders helps our midfield not get run through." The sign-off is less cheerful. "That's when you know a manager's cooked."
Webby & O'Neill: one point, two opinions
Webby & O'Neill is a two-man room and it splits down the middle. Kieran is not having it. "I can't sit here and start gassing up Manchester United players just for working hard." He has the table to hand. "Manchester United sit 13th in the league table. Seven points from seven games. One win in seven." Then a line plenty of United fans won't want to hear. "I actually thought we played better in midweek against Atletico Madrid than we did do today."
His co-host thinks a point at Elland Road was a decent result, and says so. Kieran keeps going anyway. He likes the Carlos Baleba and Andrey Santos partnership and rates Maguire's afternoon. He calls the set-piece goal "another individual mistake". The killer detail is that "it took us 27 minutes to even get into their box". Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher landed closer to the co-host: "In isolation, going to Leeds and performing how they did was a decent result." That leaves Kieran in the minority.
KGRecklessSport: "Same old, same old"
KGRecklessSport opens with a shrug you can hear. "Same old, same old. We know the song. We know the dance." He admits he "predicted a loss", which makes the point almost a bonus. Then he calls it "such a Man United performance that I'm not even shocked". Five things follow, and none of them are cheerful.
The big one is Amad. "I don't know what's happened to Amad," he says, and reads out the match numbers on screen to prove it. The rest is a fair-minded list. United were "a bit more solid, bit more together". They don't attack well as a team, and Tielemans faded after a good first half. The substitutions get the strongest word in the video, "diabolical". His message to the manager is short. "You got to figure this out."
LeedsLately: Leeds expected to win, and that's the news
Over at the Leeds United end, LeedsLately makes the point Leeds fans will enjoy most. Before kick-off, plenty of them were saying Leeds should be winning this one. That, it says, shows how far Leeds have come. It's also annoyed that United picked today to turn up. "It's annoying and it's sods law because they've been crap all season."
The channel is honest about the opener. It reckons James Justin was a fraction slow tracking Mbeumo, and "Justin had a bit of a stinker with that". The equaliser looked planned, with Muharemović and Calvert-Lewin chatting before the corner, then splitting to near post and middle. It wanted changes around the hour. It also thinks the referee was "completely biased" against Leeds, which is the one bit of fan-channel physics that never changes. By its count the point lifts Leeds to seventh. Sunderland away is next, and it's already doing the maths on six or seven points from the next three.
MatLeeds: "we were the way better team"
MatLeeds is frustrated in a way that only a decent team's fans can be. "We were the way better team," he says, and the second half was "all Leeds United". The problem was every shot "just blasted over the bar". By the last ten minutes the ambition had shrunk. "I was just like, don't lose this game."
The ratings are where the room really lives. Calvert-Lewin was "immense up top", battling alone and chasing his own flick-ons, and gets an 8.5. Muharemović gets man of the match and a nine for the assist and his passing. Gabriel Gudmundsson gets a 5.5 and the line every left-back dreads, he "could not cross a ball". He does land a fair point. If this was one of Leeds' poorer performances, and they still drew with United, the season is going quite well.
The argument: Carrick's caution, or Leeds' missed win?
The United rooms are arguing about the manager, not the result. RantsNBants and Sarcasm City TV say he played for a point at a ground where United should go for three. Kieran says the table has already answered the question. KGRecklessSport saves his harshest word for the subs. Even the kind voices in this pile, the co-host and Carragher, only go as far as "decent". The Leeds rooms are arguing about something much nicer: whether a draw with United now counts as two points dropped. Both rooms think they saw a team that should have won it. That's annoying for everyone. Como on Wednesday tells us whether Carrick still has a combo left.
