Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes have talked it out. Manchester United's head coach and captain held clear-the-air talks at Carrington on Tuesday, BBC Sport and Sky Sports reported on Wednesday, and Fernandes is now expected back in contention for Saturday's trip to Chelsea. Five fan YouTubers reacted, and most of them want to see it on the pitch first.
Last week Fernandes questioned Carrick's tactics after the 4-1 defeat at Como. On Sunday he sat on the bench for all of the 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth. Now, per Sky, the pair have had an "open and frank discussion", with a separate squad meeting on top. Whether Fernandes apologised is unclear, and the United rooms have noticed.
Bruno Fernandes: back in contention, back in the middle?
UnitedStand starts with the line that Fernandes is expected to have a bigger role at Stamford Bridge. "I have no idea what that even means," says the presenter. He didn't play on Sunday, so any role is bigger. The real point follows: "The team literally revolves around" Fernandes already, and a bigger role means he goes back into the No 10 position.
He isn't sure that is wise, given Fernandes's form, but he gets the politics. Carrick "needs Bruno more than we probably realise," he says. The sceptic in him returns when Sky report the captain has been back to his best in training for 48 hours. Productive meetings and good sessions don't move him: "Let me see what it looks like on the pitch."
Bruno Fernandes and the apology question
The Flex & KG Show at UnitedViewTV turns into the argument the rest of the fanbase is having. One side says the captain was undermining the manager. The other says he was asked a direct question about tactics and answered it. One of them calls it "a hill I'm willing to die on", and the panel splits the difference: "Bruno's right about some stuff. I'm not going to lie to you. However, he chose that moment."
They end up guessing at the conversation itself, with Carrick drawing a line under the last fortnight. The panel's conclusion is practical: "This has to be a clean slate."
MinaFootball went live in the late afternoon with "Carrick & Fernandes Hash It OUT!" in the title, folded in with Ineos money worries and questions about Jason Wilcox's future. The stream has no captions, so we won't put words in anyone's mouth. The running order says plenty: the peace talks share top billing with the boardroom.
Anfield Agenda and DanielUTD: one unimpressed, one already celebrating
Anfield Agenda has not moved on. The Liverpool channel is still angry about the original outburst, accusing United's players of throwing managers under the bus. Fernandes gets no sympathy: "You're a multi-millionaire who's captain of Manchester United." Carrick gets plenty, from a self-confessed United hater: "I know a real one when I see one."
DanielUTD needs 22 seconds. Talks done, captain back, and a message for SW6: "Chelsea, it's over for you." Then the prediction: "All I can say is pray for Chelsea." It is the most confident anyone at United has sounded in a fortnight.
Carrick and Bruno: a truce, or just a team photo?
The facts are thin and everyone knows it. United are 16th, a point above the relegation zone. Carrick kept his job for Chelsea when most people expected him to go. The talks happened in private, and nobody has said who said sorry to whom.
So the United rooms aren't asking whether the air is clear. They're asking whether it shows up at 12:30 on Saturday. Carrick needs his captain, and his captain needs a good game. A private chat at Carrington doesn't settle the argument. Three points at Stamford Bridge might.
