Newcastle and Everton YouTubers react to a 0-1 at St James' Park

Thierno Barry does Newcastle twice in four days, St James' Park boos at both ends of the night, and the Toon channels want to know where plan B went.

Newcastle and Everton YouTubers react to a 0-1 at St James' Park

St James' Park booed at half-time and booed again at full-time. In between, Thierno Barry tapped in the only goal as Everton won 1-0 at Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday night, four days after beating them 3-1 in the Carabao Cup. Newcastle 0-1 Everton. Five fan YouTubers watched it so you don't have to.

The goal came four minutes after the break. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall took a quick free-kick, Tyrique George ran clear, and his shot squirmed under Lukas Horníček for Barry to finish from a yard out. Anthony Elanga hit the post, Newcastle didn't manage a shot on target until the 85th minute, per Sky Sports, and substitute Jacob Ramsey was sent off for two yellows inside 90 seconds in stoppage time. Everton go seventh. Newcastle drop to 13th.

Newcastle: booed off at St James' Park

TheToonReview's Paul opened with a fair question: what is he supposed to say to that? He settled on this. "We just don't look like we have any identity." On the goal he went straight to the goalkeeper. That shot was "routine for a goalkeeper", and it ended up at Barry's feet anyway. Then the line that will sting on Tyneside: "We are an easy pushover right now."

GeordieDreadTV went darker. Literally. "It's gone beyond dark." Then a comparison no Newcastle fan reaches for lightly: "This is definitely looking darker than Bruce ball." He had no time for the idea that the boos don't help. "They're big boys, man." He wants the head coach gone, and says so more than once.

Jaissle: the vertical football row

Matthias Jaissle told BBC Sport afterwards that "you didn't see our playing style and that can't happen". The rooms think they saw it. That's the problem.

Newcastle Fans TV put it in the title: he hates vertical football. His ask was modest. "If it's not working, have the sense of being adaptable to change." And, more pointedly: "where's your option B?" He also listed Everton's wins over Newcastle in pre-season, the women's game and the under-18s. "Just the under 21s to complete the set." The trauma is on file.

Paul at TheToonReview isn't calling for the sack yet, but the doubt has arrived. He said he had "been all for him", and still reckoned "the manager has questions to answer".

Everton: four days, two wins

In the away end it was a very different night. The Toffee Blues' Harry ran through the haul: seventh in the table, a League Cup quarter-final booked, and by his count a third straight win at St James' Park. Jack Grealish was again not in the squad, so Harry handed the spotlight to George, quietly making the case that the wide spot is his. He did keep one Moyes gripe in reserve. No changes until late, and legs left on the bench. Otherwise it was a "very professional win".

ToffeeTV loved Dewsbury-Hall dropping deep to run the game. "He's just everywhere." He reckoned it "feels like he's took the initiative away from Jack Grealish", and that Everton look better for it.

Barry and Schär: the foul nobody can agree on

The goal is the argument. Jaissle told BBC Sport: "For me it's a clear foul on Fabian Schär." GeordieDreadTV half agreed. "Yeah, it's debatable. For me, it should have been disallowed." Paul at TheToonReview went the other way, pointing to Alan Shearer busting a gut for every rebound: "I've got no problem with it at all."

ToffeeTV said Newcastle "tried to find every possible way to disallow it". Then, against every law of fan-channel physics, turned to Everton's own late penalty shout, Schär on Barry, and said: "I'm not convinced it's a penalty." Frame it.

So Everton's channels see a young side with a midfielder taking charge. Newcastle's see a plan with no plan B, a keeper they don't trust and a crowd that has started booing in early November. Booing at half-time is a mood. Booing at both ends of the night in early November is a verdict. ToffeeTV had the other end covered in five words: "You can't beat beating Newcastle." Twice in four days, Everton have tested the theory.
